Tom is working with three cooperators in Ontario, Otsego, and Delaware counties in New York State. Tom is working with cooperator, Tim Hodge, on an improved sugar maple trial in Deleware county. The trees are planted on land that Tim leases to a local dairy farmer.

Tom is also working with James Foulkrod, a private forest owner, to grow maitake and oyster mushrooms. James is semi-retired, so he feels he now has the time to try something new on his land.

Tom's third cooperator, Tim Green, is growing ginseng and goldenseal on land belonging to his families' dairy farm. Tim helps his parents run the farm, and he also works as an apprentice carpenter and has a small business collecting and selling wild leeks.
