Rusty Orner is working with one cooperator in Jefferson county, PA on
ginseng and goldenseal trials. He has also established his own ginseng
and goldenseal trials.
|
|
Rusty doesn't look at Joe McNutt as a cooperator exactly.
Rusty and Joe are brothers-in-law and they look at this project as experimenting
with a new crop together. Joe is a private forest owner and runs a house
painting business. He is conducting both ginseng and goldenseal trials
(see photo at right).

Here is one of Joe's
goldenseal plants.

Rusty (right) are depicted with their son at the herb farm.
|
Rusty and his wife Claire (see photo at left), together run the Quiet
Creek Herb Farm and School of Country Living. They grow and retail
150 varieties of indigenous herbs and other plants. They plan to use
the ginseng and goldenseal trials as demonstration plots as part of
the educational activities on the farm and school. They also hope
to eventually sell ginseng as a potted plant.
