Foresters and loggers, the people
who work in the woods and support the sustainable production of
forest products, are critical to the long-term health and productivity
of private forests. Other professionals, such as Certified Public
Accountants and enrolled agents, have technical skills that forest
owners require when they purchase forest land, sell timber, or
report expense deductions for management costs. Together, these
professionals provide services that help private forest owners
make decisions that affect the profitability and sustainability
of their resources. ForestConnect, other Cornell University and
CCE programs, and other organizations support these professionals.
ForestConnect helps these professionals
in several ways. Many of the services that ForestConnect provides
will supplement the values these professionals receive through
their professional associations and trade organizations. All materials
on the ForestConnect webpage are available, free of charge, for
educational uses if credit is given to the author and to ForestConnect.
Examples of ways that professionals benefit from ForestConnect
include:
• Workshops through Cornell
University or CCE that support professional development
needs and Professional
Continuing Education credits such as CFEs, CPEs, and
herbicide credits
• Educational materials, such as fact sheets and brochures,
for use with clients to
explain how
certain management practices affect the forest and future ownership
options
• Suggestions of research topics that can be considered
within the research process
of the Cornell
University Agricultural Experiment Station
• Powerpoint presentations that can be downloaded and
used when these
professionals
are asked to assist with a workshop
• Links to other organizations that also support the educational
needs of professionals.
