The Future of Your Woods and Wildlife:
Resources and Tools for Landowners Workshop

Friday, October 30, 2009
SUNY Ulster, Stone Ridge, NY

Do you own wooded land in Ulster or Orange Counties? Would you like to get more from your land, or learn what you can do to take care of your land for future generations? Whether you own land for recreation or a place to “get away from it all”, to produce timber, or because you enjoy wildlife, this workshop will provide you with the information and tools you need to understand and deal with some of the issues facing woodland owners today.
Topics and activities include:

• Discover why the future of your forest depends on regeneration and what you    can do about it.
• Learn how the type of forest you have influences the wildlife on your land.
• Explore the resources, tools and potential partners available to help you meet    your financial and ownership goals.
• Learn about invasive plants and insects that could be affecting your woods now    or in the future.
• Find out surprising ways that deer can affect the forest and other wildlife.
• See first-hand examples of what other landowners have done to improve their    forests, manage for wildlife, conserve their land for future generations, and meet    challenges.
• Share ideas with other landowners.
• Discover how your woods support the ecosystem health of the Shawangunk    Region.
