The relationship between the distribution of different vegetation types and the use that we make of the land on which they exist is critical to GAP analysis. In some cases, unique vegetation types may be unattractive for development. For example, the land may be too steep to allow construction. However, in other cases, the land may be as attractive to humans as it is to its other inhabitants.
