Mapping it Out

The minimum mapping unit of the national program is a 100 hectare block (approximately 247 acres). Using GIS, much more detailed information can be included in the system when available. The information is layered in related files.

In New York, the database includes information on the distribution of vegetation and soil types, as well as inventories of breeding birds, butterflies, reptiles and amphibians.
