Tim Fahey is a forest ecologist in the Department of Natural Resources. He has been a member of the Cornell faculty since 1982. His general scientific interest is in better understanding forest ecosystems, both tropical and temperate. Tim also serves as the Advising Coordinator for the undergraduate programs in Natural Resources and the Science of Natural and Environmental Systems.

Research

Tim is currently conducting research in temperate forests in New Hampshire and New York and tropical montane forests in the Dominican Republic. In New Hampshire he is examining the effects of soil calcium depletion on sugar maple. In New York he is studying how invasive earthworms alter the nutrient cycles of forests. And in Dominican Republic he is trying to understand the interactions of fire, topography and climatic factors in montane "cloud" forests.
