Bill Fisher joined the Department of Natural Resources in 2008, and he is Leader of the New York Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit. He is a fisheries scientist and stream ecologist with interests in applications of geographic information systems in fisheries, management of recreational fisheries, conservation of rare and declining fishes, and sustainable water resources management.

Research

My research focuses is primarily field oriented with an emphasis on modeling species-environment relationships. Current research includes (i) modeling fish-habitat relationships in streams; (ii) evaluating environmental flows in rivers; (iii) sampling design and methodology; and (iv) applying geotechnology to natural resource management and conservation.
