Ruth Sherman is an ecosystems ecologist in the Department of Natural Resources. Her general scientific research interest is in better understanding processes that control the structure and function of ecosystems.

Research

Her current research examines controls on forest structure and productivity in tropical wetland ecosystems and tropical montane forests. Most recently, she is working with The Nature Conservancy on conservation issues in the mountains of Southwest China. Her immediate challenge is learning how to apply research science methodologies to conservation issues within an adaptive management framework.
