• Development of theory for Phase IIIB empirical testing, “Matching the Forum to the Fuss: Using Coorientational Contexts to Address the Paradox of Public Participation in Natural Resource Management,” presented at DKGS, March 27. To be modified for presentation at The Wildlife Society meeting, September 2006.
• Submitted OMB proposal for mail survey to communities near parks.
• Received UCHS human subjects approval for mail survey to communities near parks.
• Updated Human Dimensions OFS requests.
Dan's additional activities:
• Continued to work on habituation special section for WSB.
• Revised wildlife disease management system manuscript for HDW based on review comments; revised manuscript accepted for publication in special issue on CWD.
• Responded to GOGA Tech Assistance Request regarding interest in HD study of public understanding of National Park purposes and management needs.
• Planned extended summer visit to Acadia National Park to help establish a “visiting scientist program” associate with their learning center and to develop research needs assessment (research agenda) for HD of deer management.
Kirsten's additional activities:
• Attended NPS Chronic Wasting Disease workshops and policy meeting (January).
• Presented preliminary results at Cornell Department of Natural Resources Graduate Research Symposium (January).
• Participated in continuing NPS CWD regional planning discussions.
• Participated in BRMD native species branch strategic planning workshop in Ft Collins (January).
• Attended planning meeting for Human Dimensions conference as NPS representative (February).
• Processing of data collected in Phase IIIA research-interview transcription, reviewing transcribed interviews for accuracy.
