ELIGIBILITY FOR THE MINOR

Any undergraduate student at Cornell may enroll, subject to availability, in courses required for the minor. To complete the Minor Program of Study in Natural Resources, students must submit a form, “Minor Program of Study,” available in 12 Fernow, to our Undergraduate Program Assistant, Marian Hovencamp.

Students will retain a copy of the form, and students will be personally responsible for planning their minor program of study in conjunction with their advisor in their major. Students and advisors in other departments should contact the Department of Natural Resources Undergraduate Program Assistant in 12 Fernow (mth6@cornell.edu; 607-255-2809) if they have questions about Natural Resources courses. The Undergraduate Program Assistant can arrange for a student to meet with an advisor in the Department of Natural Resources if they would like assistance in course selection. An advisor assignment is not required.

In the student’s final semester, he or she must submit an Application to Graduate form. In order to verify the completion of the Minor Program of Study in Natural Resources, the student must bring a copy of his or her transcript (it need not be an official copy) to the Undergraduate Program Assistant for verification that all required courses have been satisfactorily competed or are in the process of being completed. Upon review of a satisfactory transcript, the Undergraduate Program Assistant will verify on the Application to Graduate form that the requirements for the Minor Program of Study in Natural Resources have been completed.

In order to receive any consideration or priority in course enrollment, a form must have been submitted prior to the semester in which enrollment is desired. Please note that admission to the minor does not guarantee that a student will be able to take a given Natural Resources course in a given semester, any more than being a Natural Resources major offers any such guarantee.
