The process of exploring interests, planning course work, and learning about careers is significantly enhanced by the presence, within the Department, of academic staff involved in a wide range of research and public education related to contemporary natural resources problems. They include not only teaching faculty, but research and extension education specialists of many types who confer with students and mentor independent study projects and volunteer work experiences of our majors. Salaried summer research internships also are available in the Department on a competitive basis.

Students are encouraged to complement their education with internships, related employment, volunteer experience, and activities in organizations.
